PETRĀS architecture is an international award-winning architecture practice based in Athens, Greece. It was first established by Tsampikos Petras in 2013 and has received several national and international awards. The architecture studio combines the most advanced technology along with traditional design techniques in order to answer to the timeless question of architecture as a place of experience and meaning. 

We seek an everlasting spatial experience through the simplicity and purity of materials, sustainable design and economy, where every building is in its context. Every project is a spatial experience for the senses and the mind, accomplishing communication and participation for all, without exceptions, in what we call culture and civilization.


CV

Tsampikos Petras was born in Piraeus and was raised in the neighborhood of the knights in Rhodes Island, Greece. He is a graduate of the School of Architecture at the National Technical University of Athens (2009), and a scholarship awardee of the NTUA postgraduate program specializing in "Design-Space-Culture". His interests include accessibility and sensory awareness in spatial perception. He is currently pursuing his PhD under the title ‘Perception of Urban Landscape’. 

He has participated in research projects and has won awards in Hellenic and international architectural competitions. His work has been exhibited at the 6th panhellenic "WALLS" exhibition in Patras, the 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th Biennale for Young Architects in Athens and the XIII International Architecture Biennale in Buenos Aires.

He received the Europe's Emerging Architect - 40 under 40 award in 2011 from the European Centre of Architecture and the International Architecture Award 2018 - from The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design.

Το αρχιτεκτονικό γραφείο PETRĀS architecture έχει βραβευθεί στην Ελλάδα και το εξωτερικό και έχει ως βάση την Αθήνα. Ιδρύθηκε το 2013 από τον Τσαμπίκο Πετρά και έκτοτε έχει λάβει διακρίσεις σε εθνικούς και διεθνείς αρχιτεκτονικούς διαγωνισμούς. Το γραφείο αναπτύσσει σύγχρονες τεχνολογίες σε σχέση με πατροπαράδοτες τεχνικές σχεδιασμού με στόχο να απαντήσει στο διαχρονικό ερώτημα της αρχιτεκτονικής, ως τόπος εμπειρίας και νοηματος. 

Αναζητούμε την μεταβαλλόμενη χωρική εμπειρία μέσα από την απλότητα και την καθαρότητα των υλικών, το βιοκλιματικό σχεδιασμό και την οικονομία, όπου κάθε κτίσμα σέβεται τον τόπο που το φιλοξενεί. Χωρική εμπειρία για τις αισθήσεις και τη νόηση με σκοπό την επικοινωνία και τη συμμετοχή όλων των ανθρώπων ανεξαιρέτως, σε αυτό που καλούμε πολιτισμό.

Βιογραφικό

Ο Τσαμπίκος Πετράς γεννήθηκε στον Πειραιά και μεγάλωσε στη μεσαιωνική πόλη της Ρόδου. Αποφοίτησε από τη Σχολή Αρχιτεκτόνων Μηχανικών του ΕΜΠ το 2009 και συνέχισε τις σπουδές του ως υπότροφος στο μεταπτυχιακό πρόγραμμα του ΕΜΠ, «Σχεδιασμός-Χώρος-Πολιτισμός». Διερευνά σε διδακτορικό επίπεδο θέματα που αφορούν την προσβασιμότητα και την συμμετοχή των αισθήσεων στην αντίληψη του χώρου.

Έχει συμμετάσχει σε ερευνητικά προγράμματα και έχει διακριθεί σε πανελλήνιους και διεθνείς διαγωνισμούς. Το έργο του έχει παρουσιαστεί στην 6η πανελληνία έκθεση WALLS στην Πάτρα,  στην 6η, 7η, 8η και 9η Biennale Νέων Αρχιτεκτόνων στο Μουσείο Μπενάκη καθώς και στη 13η διεθνή έκθεση αρχιτεκτονικής στο Buenos Aires.

To 2011 απέσπασε την διάκριση Europe’s emerging architect - 40under40 award από το Eυρωπαϊκό Kέντρο Aρχιτεκτονικής, και το 2018 το Διεθνές βραβείο αρχιτεκτονικής 2018 από The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design.
